BellyRobics: A fun class featuring bellydance movements with a focus on strengthening the body and burning calories. For students who just want a little fun and exercise as well as serious students who want an extra class each week. Bellydance for Teens: This is a class for ages 12-16. Learn 'Hips Don't Lie' moves like shimmies, undulations and figure 8s. By the end of 6 weeks you'll know a whole choreography.
Bellydance II & III: As you move up through the levels, you'll master more complicated movements and learn more about Middle Eastern dance and music. Plan to learn at this level for four to six sessions. Finger cymbals and ballet slippers or other soft-soled dance shoes recommended. Bellydance Drills (level II & up): This class is perfect for students who just want to move and have fun instead of progressing through levels or learning choreography. But it’s also perfect for students from all levels who want to clean up their technique before advancing or want to dance more than once a week. Bellydance IV: Choreography: Requires four to six sessions of Bellydance III. Some choreographies will require special props, we make every effort to keep this affordable. This class performs at some events within the dance community (haflas, workshop shows). Bellydance| Advanced Solo Skills: Open for registration or drop-in to all serious bellydance students (levels 3 and up). We'll cover technique, musical interpretation, improvisation, and movement vocabulary for solo dance expression. Topics include traveling steps, turns and spins, layering, musical interpretation, emotional content, props, and rhythms. Bellydance| Hips Afire! Repertory Group: This group performs for the general public and will occasionally need to acquire special costume pieces or props for group work. Dancers are required to attend regularly, be on time for classes, rehearse outside of class, and demonstrate an ability to be a team player. MUST be concurrently enrolled in a level IV class. By invitation only.
Yoga| Vinyasa Flow: Vinyasa is yoga that moves, or flows, through poses. It’s more dynamic than our other yoga classes, but still meditative and slow-moving. This class is not suitable for absolute beginners. Yoga| Mind/Body Connection: Meditation techniques, breathwork, chanting, biofeedback, and learning about chakra systems and energy flow. We'll use meditation CDs and the game Journey to the Wild Divine.
Yoga 102: A Saturday morning challenge for students who have been in a yoga class for at least six months. Restorative Yoga: Your instructor will show you how to drape your body over props into passive poses that restore circulation, open the body gently, and invite peace and relaxation.
